Work Requests & Document Collection

Upload and manage your client's extracted tax document data with real-time processing status tracking

A work request is where you upload and manage your client's tax documents for extraction.

Key features:

  • Supports multiple file formats (PDF, Consolidated PDFs, JPEG, PNG, XLSX, CSV, TXT)
  • Drag-and-drop file upload
  • Real-time document processing status
  • Optional client upload portal for missing documents

Client Document Upload (Magic Link)

Need additional documents from your client? Send them a secure magic link that allows them to upload files directly to their TXF work request.

How it works:

  • The magic link is sent to the email address associated with the client's profile in TXF
  • Clients can securely upload documents without needing TXF access
  • Uploaded files automatically appear in the client's work request for your review and processing

This keeps document collection simple and secure. Clients only have upload permissions to their designated work request, with no access to other TXF features or data.

Document Processing & Status

After client documents are uploaded to their work request, TXF begins extracting data. You'll see the following statuses as documents move through the system:

  • Uploading – Files are being uploaded to TXF.
  • Extracting – TXF is extracting relevant tax data from the document.
  • Completed – Data extraction is complete and ready for review and export. Once complete, the document type will automatically appear next to the file name within the work request.
  • Unsupported document – TXF doesn't support this document type (see our list of supported documents for reference).
  • Upload failed – TXF was unable to upload the file. Try re-uploading the document or contact support if the issue persists.

When a file includes more than one form, all detected forms appear in the Contains column. If TXF finds duplicates, a +N excluded tag appears next to them; hover over it to see which documents were excluded.

Document Processing Turnaround

TXF automatically extracts data from your uploaded documents. Processing time typically takes seconds, depending on the file size and the number of document types in the same file; you can track each document's status in real time in the work request.
