FAQ

Common frequently asked questions about TXF functionality and support

General Capabilities

Can TXF handle Schedule B and summarize interest/dividend income?

Yes. TXF extracts data from 1099-INTs, 1099-DIVs, or consolidated 1099s and summarizes dividend/interest income for Schedule B.

Can TXF process prior-year returns in Drake?

Currently supports 2024 and 2025 tax years.

Can TXF process prior-year returns in ProConnect?

Yes. ProConnect back tax support goes back to 2019.

Can clients rerun a return with additional documents? Does it cost extra?

Yes. TXF will add any missing items to the existing return at no extra cost.

Do credits roll over?

No, credits do not roll over.

Can TXF identify missing items?

That’s the goal. The organizer will help flag missing items (still pending).

Document Handling & Uploads

What file types are supported for document uploads?

  • PDF
  • JPEG
  • CSV
  • XLSX
  • TXT

Can TXF handle client-submitted expense lists?

Manual entry is required unless it’s part of a Profit & Loss statement (P&L), which TXF can extract for Schedule C and E.

How does TXF process K-1s?

K-1s are not supported for input to Drake or ProConnect. TXF will classify them, but they will not get assigned to the client’s return.

What documents does TXF handle?

Does TXF support client organizers (for rentals or self-employed for example)?

Not currently supported. They will get classified as a Schedule C (for self-employed) or Schedule E (for rental) in TXF.

Why was one of my documents excluded as a duplicate?

TXF automatically detects when the same form was uploaded more than once (for example, the same W-2 in two files) and excludes the duplicate so it isn't processed twice. You can review excluded documents in the Excluded Workpapers section of Form Assignment and include any back if needed.

Schedule-Specific Logic

Can 1099-MISC data be mapped to Schedule C?

1099-MISC defaults to Schedule 1 on the 1040. Schedule assignments in tax software are supported for Schedule C and E through the Form Assignment section of the Final Tax Review screen.

Does TXF handle rental income for Schedule E?

Yes. Rental income and expenses are pulled into Schedule E. You can assign rental income from a 1098, Profit & Loss, or 1099 through the Final Tax Review screen.

How does TXF handle complex brokerage data (from 1099-B)?

TXF classifies short-term/long-term gains and imports to 8949 & Schedule D using summaries grouped by account from the 1099-B. It’ll map the description of capital assets as follows:

Brokerage name - last 4 digits of account number - Short Term/Long Term - Covered/Non-Covered

How does TXF determine placement for medical/healthcare payments?

1095-A/B/C placement is based on form type.

Can TXF handle Form 8997 (QOF)?

It extracts QOF proceeds from 1099-B.

Client & Joint Return Handling

How does TXF handle joint returns (taxpayer vs. spouse)?

Based on name/SSN from documents. Defaults taxpayer/spouse assignment to how they were assigned in the prior year return (if available).

What happens if documents contain different addresses (from W-2s for example)?

TXF prioritizes:

  1. Prior year return
  1. W-2
  1. Government-issued ID

You can make manual changes to the taxpayer’s address for mapping to Drake or ProConnect in the Final Tax Review screen.

Verification & Notifications

How does verification work if a change is made post-extraction?

Changes are shown in the verification view, but not flagged separately. No notifications are currently sent (in development). Failed or unsupported extractions are visible in the work request.

Security & Infrastructure

Where are TXF’s servers hosted?

Google Cloud (U.S. based).
