Billing & Account
Manage your credit balance, payment methods and purchases from your workspace
Billing is built on a self-service credit system. From Billing, you can check your credit balance, keep a card on file, buy more credits, and review everything your workspace has been granted, bought, or spent.
Where to find Billing
Billing sits in the Workspace group of the left sidebar and is available to TXF workspace users.
The credits indicator towards the bottom-left corner of the sidebar shows your balance at a glance. Select it to open a summary with Buy credits and View billing.
How credits are used
A credit is drawn each time you create a work request. Once the work request exists, you can upload as many documents to it and generate as many returns from it as needed, at no additional charge.
Your balance appears under Credits as Workspace credits. TXF flags the balance when it is running low.

Once it reaches zero, you cannot create new work requests until you top up, though every work request you have already created stays fully available.
Adding a payment method
Under Payment methods, select Add payment method, then enter a credit or debit card. Once a card is saved, the same control appears as Add card.
Note: Cards are visible only to the member who added them. The credits bought with them belong to the whole workspace.

You do not need a card on file to get started. Your free signup credits require none, and if you begin a purchase without a saved card, TXF asks for it at checkout.
When more than one card is saved, use the actions menu beside a card to Set as default or Remove it. The default card carries a Default badge and is the one a purchase is charged to unless you choose another.
Buying credits
- Select Buy credits, either from the Credits section or from the credits indicator.
- Under Credits to buy, set the quantity. A single purchase can be between 1 and 1,000 credits. For a larger volume, contact your sales rep.
- Check the tier list. The rate per credit falls at higher volumes, and the rate you reach applies to every credit in the purchase, so a quantity that just crosses a tier costs less in total than one just below it.
- Review Order, which shows the quantity, the price per credit, and the total.
- Select Purchase credits, then confirm. Confirm your purchase restates the order and shows your balance before and after. If no card is saved, enter one here.
Credits are added to your workspace as soon as the payment is confirmed.
Tip: The Buy credits page always shows the current rates, and ticks the tier you qualify for as you change the quantity.
Important: Credits cannot be refunded, so confirm the quantity before you complete a purchase. Only one purchase can be in progress at a time.
Reviewing activity and receipts
Recent activity on the Billing page lists your most recent credit movements. Select All transactions to open the full history.
Transactions opens with a Credit usage chart that you can view by period and step backwards through, followed by All activity: the date, a description, the credits in or out, and the amount. A purchase names the quantity and the rate it was bought at, and a debit names the return it paid for. Select the receipt icon on a purchase to open its receipt.
Workspaces on a sales agreement
Firms whose credits are arranged through a sales agreement do not purchase in the app. Billing shows that credits are managed by your sales rep, with no payment methods and no purchase flow.
On these workspaces, a credit is drawn when the first document is uploaded to a work request, rather than when the work request is created. Contact your sales rep, or email sales@taxfyle.com, to add credits.
